Every year, as the frost begins to lift and the first signs of spring peek through in Buckley, we start preparing for one of our favorite days of the year: Mothering Sunday.
While you might be looking for a beautiful way to say "thank you" to the woman who does it all, have you ever stopped to wonder why we gift flowers on this specific Sunday? It’s a tradition with deep roots, and at Vivaldi Flowers, we’re proud to keep that history blooming.
Long before it was a modern holiday, Mothering Sunday (the fourth Sunday of Lent) was a day for "returning home."
In the 16th century, young domestic servants and apprentices—who often lived away from their families—were given a rare day off to visit their "mother church" and reunite with their parents. As they walked through the Flintshire countryside and along the local hedgerows, they would pick wildflowers to present to their mothers as a small, heartfelt gift.
Today, while we’ve traded the hedgerows for expertly curated floral designs, the sentiment remains: a bouquet is a bridge between generations, a symbol of growth, and a beautiful way to show someone they are cherished.
We know there are plenty of places to pick up a bunch of flowers, but here at Vivaldi Flowers, we do things a little differently.
Nearly 40 Years of Award-Winning Artistry: Led by Nikki, our team brings decades of experience to every stem. We’ve even been crowned "Best Wedding Florist" for four years running at the Welsh National Wedding Awards—we bring that same award-winning passion to every Mothering Sunday arrangement.
The Personal Touch: Forget "letterbox" flowers or boxes left on rainy doorsteps. We use our own distinctive sign-written vans to provide a personal, hand-to-hand delivery. We ensure the moment of arrival is as special as the flowers themselves.
Freshness & Value: By ordering directly from us, you cut out the middleman. Your money goes into higher-quality blooms and more generous arrangements, handcrafted right here in Buckley.
We have curated a stunning range of seasonal designs to suit every style and budget. Whether she loves vibrant spring yellows or elegant white lilies, we have the perfect match.
Mothering Sunday 2026 falls on March 15th. To ensure your flowers are enjoyed throughout the entire celebration, we will be delivering on Thursday 12th, Friday 13th, and Saturday 14th March.
